The UF MDP builds solid disciplinary competencies but also emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach that integrates theory, practice and skills training. The 5-semester MDP combines discipline-specific foundational courses with elective courses and integrative seminars as follows:
Ten foundational courses provide disciplinary competency within the natural, social and health sciences and management.
Skills training including communication and leadership, participatory planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting skills (linked to the field experience). Professional development is centered on an intense summer field program in Africa, Latin America or other regions of the world.
